Nathan Drake couldn’t hunt down priceless treasures without his chicken bacon ranch on Italian herbs and cheese with a Dr. Pepper! Okay that’s what I get at Subway, but I’m sure the dude raider has his own favorite sandwich configuration. Perhaps as a not-so-subtle ploy to get gamers to eat moderately more healthy food, Subway has partnered with Naughty Dog to give anyone who purchases a 30oz drink access to Uncharted 3’s final multiplayer beta. The promotion will last through October, leading up to the game’s release on November 1st. Taking part in the beta will net you the privilage of carrying over any experience you gain in that month into the final game along with some perks detailed in this impossible to embed video.

Via email interview with USA Today, Ginger Kraus of Sony marketing alliances provided some insight on what led to their partnership with Subway.

“Subway saw the cinematic strength of the IP and we saw reach that would allow us to extend beyond our core demographic. This allowed us to support our goal to see the Uncharted 3 multiplayer experience as one that was designed to empower every type of gamer – and that reach became very advantageous for this particular program.”

Robert Cogburn of Naughty Dog was also interviewed and detailed some of the changes that have been made since the previous beta.

“Soon after the beta went live there were a number of complaints about controls and one consistent complaint was sprint. So, after a deep discussion about how to handle certain cases where turning on a dime just should not occur, we removed the control from sprint and made it flexible. When we had playtest with people who had played the beta, they often mentioned how much better sprint felt – progress!”

He also wanted to mention that the Dogs (yes, the developers) will be playing the beta as well. So get on there and see if you can beat them at their own game!

Some small things to keep in mind:

    1) Not all locations are participating, even the ones with signs out front. Hell, it seems like more places are NOT participating than ARE.

    2) Might be best to call ahead. Yep, that’s right. Call ahead. To a fast food place.

    3) You can get the code off a bag of Harvest Sun cheddar chips apparently, so no need to eat those nasty ass subs if you don’t want to. Although going into Subway to buy a bag of chips is…weird.
