G4 Will Stream EVO Tournament Series

Starting July 9th, G4TV will be giving fighting fans a fantastic opportunity to see the EVO tournament–the biggest fighting tournament of the year–by providing “45 hours of non-stop live streaming coverage.” The stream will be a mix of matches featuring top players from 20 different countries around the world, such as Daigo Umehara, as well as expert commentary. The coverage will run up until the finals on July 11th. The event will have championships for the following games:

Super Street Fighter IV
Tekken 6
Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix
Tatsunoko vs. Capcom
Marvel vs. Capcom 2
Melty Blood: Actress Again

The passion and enthusiasm surrounding EVO is infectious and when you see the skill level of the top players, even those who don’t dabble in fighting games will be slack-jawed, says Adam Sessler, X-Play Host and Editor-in-Chief of Games Content.

As a mild fighting game enthusiast, I couldn’t agree more. Seeing videos that showcase the skills of top players is always a revelatory experience–you can see the true complexity of the games at hand, and marvel at the subtle mind-games that blanket every decision the players make…it gets me pumped every time, and I have to bring out my special Ken Masters gamepad (because we all know that the 360’s D-Pad is atrocious) and hit the training room one more time.

Yeah, I’m a fucking Ken Masters player…sometimes. Actually, it’s just fun to be a troll and say so, and naturally, having the Ken Masters gamepad is important for the facade.
