Dynasty Warriors and Pepsi perform double musou marketing campaign
For what could be the greatest marketing campaign in the history of man, Tecmo Koei and Pepsi have joined forces to promote Pepsi Next through Dynasty Warriors Next, a launch title for the PS Vita. As of now this campaign features a hilariously amazing desktop background (downloable here) and the opportunity to win one of 50 copies of the game being given out by Pepsi. All it requires is a few minutes to fill out a contest form and being able to read Japanese. Currently there aren’t any Pepsi-themed items or advertisements in the game itself, but I would love to see a Pepsi bottle as one of the health-restoring food items or as some kind of ridiculous power up. Keeping with common Japanese game design, maybe each character could have a Next form, a super-powered blue-and-red version of the character that can fly and has at least 50% more hair. That desktop may be the greatest thing I’ve ever seen. Lu Bu just looks like he will just fucking kill you if you interrupt his enjoyment of that delicious bottle of Pepsi Next. This isn’t the first time we’ve seen a Japanese frachise used to promote cola products either. Does anyone remember this commercial? As long as they’re hilarious, I support awful marketing campaigns like this and Nathan Drake’s newfound love for Subway. Via Andriasang |
