Mass Effect 3 to Get a Demo
The demo is set to drop in January 2012, though the exact date isn’t given. Through the demo, you’ll get a taste of the game’s single player and multi-player modes. Well, kind of. The single player will be available to everyone when the demo is released, but to get the multi-player portion, you need to redeem Battlefield 3’s online pass on any platform(PC, PS3, 360). However, don’t fret if you don’t plan on getting Battlefield 3. Bioware stated in a post on their forums that there will be other ways to get into the demo’s multiplayer. Those ways will be revealed in late November/early December, along with the demo’s exact release date. Kind of odd you need an online pass to get into the multi-player part of a demo, but at least there’ll be other ways to get it. Hopefully they aren’t too outrageous, and hopefully the multi-player gets opened to everyone eventually. Via – Bioware forums |
Remember when demos were demos – that is, that publishers tried to freely distribute them to as many people as possible to entice them into buying the full game?
Now, somehow, they’re a privilege. Why on earth would I pay to participate in a demo? Doesn’t that defeat the entire point?
A single-player demo is certainly better than no single-player demo (the status quo these days) but RPGs are notoriously hard to represent in such short sections. If ME3 is actually an RPG.
