ITV responds to Irish Republican Army documentary game footage fiasco
Earlier today, the internet was abuzz with reports regarding a British network’s blunder in a documentary meant to showcase how the Libyan dictator, Moammar Gadhafi, supplied the IRA with weaponry in the 80’s. Instead of using real footage, ITV network used a clip from the war simulator Arma 2. Undoubtedly, it was the kind of advertisement money can’t buy for Arma, not so much for ITV. James MacLeod, a spokesperson for the network, states that the fiasco “was an unfortunate case of human error for which we apologize.” He goes further and suggests that they are in possesion of actual footage of the 1968 attack the Arma II clip was meant to show, and that this would be edited onto their documentary soon. The previous video, however, has already been viewed 1.3 million times around the world. |
