EA's Origin Boasts a Four Million Install Base
Despite Origin’s rather nebulous EULA, it appears that quite a few people seem to be more than happy to use it. According to EA CFO Eric Brown, EA expects this number to rise this holiday season, now that EA’s PC games now require Origin to be installed, even if the game is bought at retail. Brown also says that EA plans to leverage its 130 million-plus registered users and a multitude of digital payments in order to attract other companies to the service. Seems that whole EULA kerfuffle didn’t do much to dampen people’s adoption of Origin. And with Battlefield 3 and possibly The Old Republic coming out this year(or possibly early next for TOR), and Mass Effect 3 next year, it seems Origin will have decent growth for more than a few months.
