Objection! Ace Attorney 5 + Ace Attorney 123 HD announced

With Ace Attorney Investigations 2: Miles Edgeworth, or should I say Gyakuten Kenji 2, remaining unlocalized for nearly a year I began to lose hope for the Ace Attorney series. It’s a great series, but it isn’t as popular in the US as Street Fighter, Resident Evil, Dead Rising, or any of Capcom’s money makers. I assumed it was going to fade into obscurity like Dino Crisis, Breath of Fire, Darkstalkers, and other forgotten Capcom series before it. Thankfully, Capcom proves me wrong by announcing Ace Attorney 5 and Ace Attorney 123 HD: Phoenix Wright. We don’t know anything about Ace Attorney 5 yet, but Ace Attorney 123 HD is a re-release of Ace Attorney, Justice For All, and Trials & Tribulations for iOS.

As far as we know, these turnabouts will be the same as their DS incarnations aside from some changes in the graphics. Separately they’ll run for 600 yen ($7.80) and together for 1,200 yen ($15.60). If those prices translate to exactly that in the US then this is a steal compared to the original games going for $20-$40 online these days. I can only hope the trilogy is ported over the 3DS at some point, for those folks without iOS devices. My only worry now is if these games will come over to the states at all since Gyakuten Kenji 2 didn’t, but I’m feeling a bit more optimistic this time around. The original Phoenix Wright games are a lot more popular than their Apollo Justice and Miles Edgeworth counterparts, and if the price is right then sales might push Ace Attorney 5 over here as well.  Don’t let me down this time Capcom.
