Skyrim 360 install makes you choose graphics or fast load times

Blurry textures? Sorry, don't care, killing viking zombies!

No launch these days isn’t without a few hiccups. Thankfully Skyrim is one of those rare “singleplayer” games so none of the launch issues had to do with an online pass. This minor issue with the 360 version of Skyrim has to do with installing the game on the console’s hard drive. Since the game dynamically streams textures, an install will muck up the workings of that feature.

“We’ve seen a few reports of certain textures temporarily scaling down on the Xbox 360, and not scaling back up,” the post reads. “We have verified that this issue does not occur when playing off the disc and when the game is fully cached (not installed).”

This comes from a post on the Bethesda forums. The post also states that a patch is incoming, but at the moment you’re going to have to choose between a few blurry textures or long load times as your one nitpick for this excellent game. I’m sticking with my install for the moment because every time I notice a blurry texture it’s forgotten about almost immediately as I turn my head and notice a dragon that needs slaying circling overhead.
