Tim Cain's Position at Obsidian Temporary

In case you didn’t know, Tim Cain recently joined Obsidian Entertainment as a Senior Programmer. Cain is one of the original creators of Fallout, and was employed at a number of studio’s for all kinds of games. Seems that trend may continue, since according to an interview with the man from Gamasutra, Cain is in talks to join another company in the spring of 2012.

“But I should explain that I am a temporary contracted employee at Obsidian. I am considering joining another company in the spring of 2012 and have been talking with them since August, so in the meantime I am working at Obsidian on one of their games as a senior programmer. My contract extends thru March of 2012, at which time all parties (myself, Obsidian and the other company) can decide what the next step should be.

So if you were hoping for a new Fallout title with Tim Cain, J.E. Sawyer, and Chris Avellone at the helm, you might want to keep dreaming. Then again, Cain said himself that anything’s possible when asked that question…

Cain also reveals some other interesting tidbits about himself and his time as a developer for many different companies. The full interview is well worth a read and can be found at Gamasutra
