Sony Looks To Pick Up Assassin's Creed Film Rights

Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed looks to be the latest IP set for the silver screen following reports that Sony are in final negotiations to acquire rights for a film adaptation. The publisher is said to have been shopping the rights around for some time, following the launch of Ubisoft Motion Pictures in May earlier this year. Perhaps fully aware of the stigma surrounding film adaptations of video games, Ubisoft have been are trying to negotiate a deal that will see them retain some creative control, rather than simply signing full control over to Sony.

It would also make a nice addition to Sony’s current collection of soon-to-be-screen-adaptations, with the Uncharted series already headed for Hollywood, as well as the Sucker Punch’s Infamous.

Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemont has also expressed his interest in seeing Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell and Ghost Recon on the big screen.
