Sideway Joins Innovative October PSN Lineup

Fans of Lost in Shadow have an impressive-looking little platformer to look forward to this October called Sideway: New York. The game is about a graffiti artist named Nox who messed with the wrong tag and has been transported to the very canvas of his work and has become graffiti himself. Scott Simpson of developer Playbrains discussed with Playstation Blog some of the finer details of the game. Throughout the main game the player will be able to unlock new abilities that range from the classic double jump to the risk-reward juggle called airtime that allows you to can briefly leave the wall, but be blown away in the wind unless you return within a short amount of time. An animated series is being produced along with the game and will be providing the art assets, which is probably the best delegation a traditionally animated game can get. Sideway will also feature drop in/out co-op mode.

“It is fun to play with a friend. You’ll be on the same screen at the same time. It gives you a different way to solve puzzles. It’s not intended to be a “girlfriend mode” where you’re just tagging along (see what I did there?), but you’re actually both advancing the story equally. If you play as the second player you’ll play “Fume”, your Yoda-like sidekick who’s actually guiding you through the world here, ” explains Simpson.

For those of you whose October gaming budget is likely to be mostly transfered to November to cover Uncharted 3, Assassin’s Creed: Revelations, and Skyrim, a $9.99 game like this should be a fun and economic way to have a new game to play this month. Sideway: New York releases October 11.
