The Secret World looks spooky

One of my favorite running video game subplots for this year is the battle for domination between Guild Wars 2 and The Old Republic. NC Soft versus EA, a battle of titans in the run around and grind endlessly field of video games.

But I’m putting my money on a third horse. Well, not my money, but I’m excited about a third horse’s chances. The Secret World, developed by Funcom (those guys behind the ever nostalgic Anarchy Online!), looks a lot more traditional than those two games, but it carries its weight with an cast iron premise: that every conspiracy theory is true. If the thought of Cthulhu, the Illuminati, reptilians, and a cabal of evil demon bees in the same game is not exciting to you, then you really have no love for interesting things, and I feel for you.

Anyway, check out the trailer. I love the aesthetic choices made, and they remind me of what I wanted from the Shin Megami Tensei MMO, but with less anime. Which I’m not going to complain about.
